Therapy for High-Functioning Anxiety & Nervous System Overdrive

You may appear high-functioning on the outside, but inside your mind may never fully switch off.

You might be feeling…

• stuck in constant overthinking
• pressure to get everything right
• exhausted from holding everything together
• cycles of burnout or functional freeze
• anxious even when nothing is technically “wrong”

At times, this may show up as high-functioning anxiety or perfectionism. At other times, you may notice periods of burnout, shutdown, or functional freeze, where motivation disappears and even simple tasks feel overwhelming.

If this resonates, you’re not broken… your nervous system may simply be stuck in patterns of chronic stress and overdrive. Therapy can help you understand the deeper patterns shaping your nervous system and emotional life.

Who I Work With

I help thoughtful, high-functioning women untangle anxiety, perfectionism, relationship challenges, and the lingering impact of trauma so they can feel steady, self-trusting, and fully alive without burning out.

Many of my clients are highly self-aware but still feel stuck in patterns of overthinking, people-pleasing, or nervous system overwhelm. They often feel overwhelmed, disconnected, or unsure how to fully express who they are.

My Approach

Therapy with me is integrative, depth-oriented and trauma-informed, integrating insight, nervous system awareness, and experiential work.

Many of the women I work with live with high-functioning anxiety, perfectionism, or chronic overthinking. On the surface they appear capable and successful, yet internally their nervous systems remain in a constant state of vigilance or pressure.

Rather than focusing only on symptom relief, our work explores the deeper patterns shaping your emotional life, relationships, and sense of self.

I integrate several approaches depending on what best supports your healing, including:

Somatic EMDR therapy to process trauma and unresolved experiences
Parts work (IFS-informed) to understand internal conflicts and protective patterns
Mindfulness to support nervous system regulation
Depth-oriented and relational therapy to explore longstanding emotional patterns

Together we work to untangle the roots of anxiety and perfectionism while building the internal steadiness needed for lasting change.

Why Clients Choose To Work With Me

Many of my clients are thoughtful, high-functioning women who have already done a great deal of personal growth. They are often insightful and self-aware, yet still feel caught in patterns of overthinking, perfectionism, people-pleasing, or nervous system overdrive. They come to therapy because they want something deeper than coping strategies.

Clients often choose to work with me because my approach is:

Depth-oriented
We explore the underlying patterns shaping anxiety, relationships, and identity.

Grounded in nervous system healing
Understanding how your nervous system responds to stress allows real change to unfold.

Relational and collaborative
Therapy becomes a space where curiosity, honesty, and reflection are welcomed.

Integrative and thoughtful
I draw from somatic therapy, EMDR, parts work, mindfulness, and relational therapy to support lasting transformation.

Over time, many clients find that this work helps them move through life with more ease, emotional flexibility, and a stronger sense of who they are. They often notice a deeper sense of grounding, insight into their patterns, and a more compassionate relationship with themselves.

If you’re ready to understand your patterns more deeply and begin feeling more at home in yourself, therapy can be a place to start.

I’m Michelle,

Holistic therapist, trauma-informed guide, and founder of Satori Sky Counseling.

I work with sensitive, high-functioning women, creatives, and relational explorers—often navigating anxiety, burnout, identity shifts, and the lingering imprint of trauma. My approach is integrative and somatic, blending evidence-based methods like EMDR, parts work, and nervous system regulation with mindfulness, creativity, and a deep reverence for your body’s wisdom.

In our work together, we slow down and listen closely—to your body, your story, your truth. We explore the roots of what’s keeping you stuck, gently unwind old patterns, and create space for more safety, clarity, and self-trust. Whether you’re moving through transition, navigating relational complexity, or simply longing to feel more you—this is a space for reclamation and rooted transformation.

In addition to therapy, I also offer Inward Bloom—a soul-centered coaching experience designed for those craving deeper meaning, structure, and embodied rhythm during times of personal evolution. Through a blend of psychology, somatics, astrology, and ritual, Inward Bloom is for those ready to soften old identities and bloom into a more aligned, liberated version of themselves.

If you’re seeking a therapist + guide who brings warmth, depth, and a sex-positive, spiritually grounded, trauma-informed approach—I’d be honored to walk beside you.

The Process of Therapy

Step 1

DISCOVERY CALL

This initial conversation is a crucial first step to understanding your needs and goals.  During the discovery call, we'll discuss your concerns, review your desired outcomes, and answer any questions you have about the therapeutic process.  This call allows you to get to know our approach and determine if working together is a good fit for your unique needs.

Step 2

INITIAL SESSION

Following the discovery call, your first session will serve as a deep dive into your current experiences.  We'll explore the challenges you're facing, discuss your history, and develop a shared understanding of your personal narrative.  This session will be an opportunity to build rapport and establish the therapeutic framework that will guide our work together.

Step 3

ONGOING SESSION

We'll begin each session with grounding, mindfulness , and guided meditation to help you cultivate a sense of calm and self-awareness. This foundational practice creates a safe space for exploration and allows you to connect with your inner resources.  We'll also incorporate inner child healing work to address any unresolved emotional wounds from the past.  You will explore past experiences in a supportive environment, fostering emotional regulation, and ultimately promoting personal growth.

Ready to begin a journey of healing and self-discovery?

Taking the first step can feel vulnerable—but you don’t have to do it alone. Whether you’re craving clarity, a deeper sense of connection, or a better understanding of yourself, I’m here to offer thoughtful, personalized support rooted in compassion, presence, and nervous system wisdom.

*Currently, I’m offering therapy sessions virtually to clients across Colorado, and walk-and-talk sessions on a limited basis in the Boulder County area (including Niwot, Longmont, and nearby trails). These outdoor sessions allow for gentle movement, fresh air, and a grounded connection to your inner world in nature’s holding.

Since 2020, I’ve found that telehealth creates surprisingly powerful space for healing. Clients often appreciate the flexibility, comfort, and depth that emerge when therapy meets you where you are—whether that’s from your couch, your car, or a quiet trail. Many are surprised by how natural and effective virtual sessions feel, and how seamlessly they fit into busy rhythms.

What guides my work…

“There is really only one way to restore a world that is dying and in disrepair: to make beauty where ugliness has set in. By beauty, I don’t mean a superficial attractiveness, though the word is commonly used in this way. Beauty is a loveliness admired in its entirety, not just at face value. The beauty I’m referring to is metabolized grief. It includes brokenness and fallibility, and in so doing, conveys for us something deliciously real. Like kintsukuroi, the Japanese art of repairing broken pottery with powdered gold, what is normally seen as a fatal flaw is distinguished with value. When we come into contact with this kind of beauty, it serves as a medicine for the brokenness in ourselves, which then gives us the courage to live in greater intimacy with the world’s wounds.”
